#DDK2017
DD Kosambi Festival of Ideas 2017. The festival which provides fodder for the mind and also for the soul. The 10th DD Kosambi Festival of Ideas, which hosts best of minds from various arenas of life. This year the festival was held from 13 February to February 17 from 5pm to 7pm at Kala Academy, Panjim Goa.
I attended the third session which was on 15 February.
Mr Kishore Shah was hosting the session for that day.
The topic was about "THE FUTURE OF LEARNING" by none other than Dr. Sugata Mitra ( A professor at Newcastle University, Uk)
The first glimpse of the audience was energetic,
the hall was jam-packed,
each one seemed to be eagerly waiting to listen to Dr Mitra!
Dr Mitra, in his talk and interactive session,
took us through the origins of schooling and the dematerialisation effect.
17 years of experiments with children education with access to the internet. Dr Mitra proudly calls this phenomenon as "Fusion of chaos and order and coins"
These experiments had interesting bandwidth which included:-
Slums of India to the village of India and Cambodia,
to poor schols in Chile, Argentina, Uruguary, USA and Italy to the schools of Gateshead and the rich international schools of washington and Hong-Kong,
All these experiments turned into a new
"FUTURE OF LEARNING"
and the newspaper termed the experiment as "HOLE IN THE WALL" by this title Dr Mitra was awarded the 1 Million Dollar TED Prize in 2013. Dr Mitra used this prize money to build seven schools, but again in a strange way, these were called "SCHOOLS IN CLOUD" by "GRANNY CLOUD" which showed a glimpses of what schools should be for...
Today, When our Government is beating its chest with high decibel slogans like "DIGITAL INDIA" "MAKE IN INDIA" the scene at grass root is different, which makes us beat our forehead,
As there are no proper schools,
and if there are schools there are no teachers,
and if there are schools and teachers,
then students are missing!
"In the 21st Century our schools are preparing students for the jobs of 1920"
-Dr. SUGATA MITRA
It was a Inspiring talk given by Dr Sugata Mitra. π

#On The Road To Endless Fun
Some beautiful paths can't be discovered without getting lost. π
You never know what's around the corner. It could be everything. Or it could be nothing. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and then one day you look back and you've climbed a mountain.
So at the end of this day, we give thanks
For being promised to the
unknown. π
#Trip To Mumbai
A city that never sleeps, a land with a spirit of gold and residents with a never say die attitude-Mumbai has hypnotized millions world over. From artists to writers, filmmakers to tourists-Mumbai has captured imagination of every soul that has stepped foot in the city.
This may not be the city for those who love the peace and calm but it sure is a place to be in if one wishes to live life to the fullest.
"I found in Mumbai more dreams are reallised and extinguished than any other place in India"
"Mumbai may not be my city.
But it is my kind of city."
Traffic in the streets of Mumbai is chaotic at best.
Riding a bicycle is a dangerous occupation.
However, there are 100s of them on the streets competing with the cars and buses and lorries
because it is the poor man's mode of transport.
Mumbai's infectious
Once you start living in Mumbai
working in Mumbai
I dont think you can live anywhere else.
You can take the
boy out of Bombay;
you can't take Bombay
out of the boy,
you know.
I was becoming addicted to Bombay
There was squalor and poverty, but I had begun to realise
my good fortune and would never again forget it.
Everything, or everybody, was on the move
in ever direction.....
There was no place to stop,
no place to dawdle,
you either moved on or got mowed down.
It's not so much what you learn about Mumbai, it's what you learn about yourself,
really, It's a funny old hippie thing,
but it's true as well. You find out a lot about yourself and your tolerance, and about your inclusiveness.
THANK YOU πππ
